Al-Kauthar Institute aims to honor the legacy of the Lady of Heaven, Sayeda Fatima Zahra (as) through providing quality Islamic education and resources to empower women of all ages and backgrounds to deepen their Islamic knowledge, uphold their values, and practice their faith with confidence.
We pray that these efforts develop well rounded, confident and faithful Muslim women who aspire to achieve true servitude to Allah SWT according to the guidance and teachings of the Holy Qur’an, the Prophet (PBUH) and the Ahlulbayt (PBUT) in turn fostering the success and prosperity of both current community members and future generations.
Through workshops, special events, books and more, we are committed towards empowering the Muslim sisters to acquire, demonstrate, articulate, practice and share Islamic knowledge, participate in and contribute to the ethical excellence of both our community and the broader global society.
With the aid of Allah SWT, Al-Kauthar Institute aims to empower women of all ages and backgrounds to increase their Islamic knowledge, hold on to their values, and practice their faith confidently. This institute serves as a resource for various subjects presented in a simplified manner, such as Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh), Theology (Aqaid), and more which can be accessed across our platforms.
In addition to the available resources, Al-Kauthar holds bi-monthly sessions and workshops under the guidance of Khanum Syeda Asma Abidi to address these subject in the service of Islam and humanity.
EDUCATION: Khanum Asma Abidi achieved her Master’s degree in Islamic Studies and earned a Bachelor of Computer Science degree from the University of Karachi, Pakistan, and a diploma in Early Childhood Education from The Seneca College, Toronto, Canada.
She spent five years studying at Madrassa-tul Qaim, Hawza Jamia-tuz Zahra Islamic Seminary, Institute for Islamic Beliefs, and at present continues her Hawza classes under reputable scholars from Qom and Mashhad, Iran.
EXPERIENCE: Khanum Abidi has served a variety of roles as a religious scholar, educator, orator and counselor with the aim of educating women with regards to Islamic knowledge and values. Over the years, she has delivered lectures and recited Majalis in Canada, and in the USA at various Islamic Centers including but not limited to the following: Al-Khoei, NY, Idar-e-Jaferia, MD, Masjid al-Hayy, FL, Astana Zahra, NJ, and multiple Islamic centers in Melbourne, Australia.
As one of the resident alims, she convenes monthly for workshops/dars sessions at IEC Husaini Sisters Study Circle for ladies and youth.
PURPOSE: Within their servitude to Allah SWT, women bear important roles in the family, home and society. Khanum Asma Abidi is a role model in many ways, as a scholar, educator, daughter, sister, wife and mother. It is incumbent upon all women to pursue, practice and promote the teachings, rules and rulings of Qur’an and traditions of the Prophet Muhammad, blessings be with him and his Pure Progeny. The teachings of the Ahl al-Bayt, blessings of Allah be with them, are the luminous minarets of Divine Knowledge and their footsteps are the shining stars of guidance.
